Ogden to home (Common Gull)

Mixed weather this afternoon, warm sunshine followed by 2 good soakings - but I'm getting used to them now, after all its July.

Another try for x-bills failed, although 2 large cones on a distant conifer had the heart racing. One, on a slant,  was blowing in the wind and 'pecking' the second one - makes a change from photographing plastic bags and bottles!

Ogden Water was busy with people, and after spending quite some time on the x-bill hunt, I only looked at the east side before heading off home in the rain.
The reservoir is very full now, with very little shoreline left, and the water is still crashing in - don't look promising for Waders this month or next.

Birds: (few and far between today).

1 Kestrel by the Plantation.
1 Kestrel by the East, Back Lane Ruin calling.
Oystercatcher overhead.
Cormorant.

c20 Black Headed Gull.

1 Common Gull.
A few Lesser Black-backed Gulls over and a few on the water.
2 Song Thrush.
Wren.
Lots of Blue Tit.
Chiffchaff calling.
Collard Dove.
Swift
Swallow.

A partly obscured photo of a bird way up at the top of a conifer, looks like a Whitethroat? - but in an odd place.

Even my banker, Little Owl, along Taylor Lane  deserted me - but it was raining when I passed the site - then again its July!

Potential for Crossbills

Difficult to tell - possibly Whitethroat?
