Soil Hill

I paid a visit to Soil Hill this afternoon.
Very windy on the west side of the Hill but OK elsewhere.
An outing bart waterproofs - a rare event of late.

I spent a good while looking at a Pipit in a small bush, trying to turn it into a Tree version, but the photos reflect a Meadow Pipit.
I took some photos of its claws, one looked particularly deformed, throwing me a bit, although the bird was perched in the bush, in the strong breeze, with ease.

Not much birdsong at all today, just a Wren singing and a Whitethroat calling from deep cover.

Birds:

Little Owl.
Herring Gull
Lesser Black-backed Gull
Common Whitethroat.
A few Swift and Swallow
Meadow Pipit
Skylark
House Sparrow
Wren
Goldfinch

Mistle Thrush was the bird of the outing with 2 seen from Taylor Lane and c6 very distant in the Bradshaw Fields.

and a few other sp.

  1. I see you got a Ringlet butterfly hiding away in the grass - starting to get a few now. I see Daniel had a mega Dragonfly on the hill this morning, a Red-veined Darter
