The usual walk this aft - Taylor Lane, Percy Rd, Soil Hill and the Raggalds taken in.
A real 'Autumn' day with a near gale on Soil Hill's west side.
A stinger of a hail shower and loads of showers throughout with very little sunshine.
Pied Wagtail on Taylor Lane Midden but no sign of anything special at Cloth Hall Farm, in the 5 mins I spent there.
An interesting moment on Soil Hill (these are few and far between now) when a small bird was flitting across the track and back.
It landed in the bottom of a small bush as a real heavy shower came along.
It walked behind the big rock but I could not find it when the shower passed on.
It is probably a Stonechat or a Reed Bunting although 'it had a look' about it.
The photo turned out better that I expected but no very helpful in the ID.
The only other birds daft enough to be here were 4 Stonechat and 3 Meadow Pipit.
Gulls were strewn about on the lower Shay fields but the NK pond was bereft of birds.
The ground on Soil Hill is mega saturated so Jack Snipe would be a real bonus.
Although Common Snipe are rare here as well.
A trek down to the Raggalds Flood held a another interesting moment with 2 Large Gulls looking potentially like Yellow Legged Gulls.
Here again the weather was unhelpful.
In fact one Gull had some yellow on it's leg - a yellow leg ring picked out from the photo later. I can't read it though.
One bird left after a few minutes - the in flight picture confirms Herring Gull as far as I can see.
An enjoyable outing considering the weather.
2 photos of mystery bird:-
Photo, above, lightened quite a bit.
