A few hours on a cold, calm quite pleasant Soil Hill this afternoon.
Good to chat with Dave W. who I bumped into along Bradshaw Lane on my way up there.
Nothing much moving in the sky today until later when a few Gulls started to move through.
Although a scan, from Percy Road way over to the recycling plant on Ringby Top Swalesmoor, resulted in the sighting of some mega distant 'White Birds'.
They look bigger that Gulls ....Swans or Geese?
A speculative photo in the general area, on full zoom, has picked them up, and with a bit of help from my laptop cropped them out of the cloud.
But with such a large crop factor I cannot tell what they are!
Interestingly they are flying one above the other?
Two Stonechat were seen, one seen from the comms mast was 'miles off' playing king of the castle on the apex of the ruin.
The second was smack in the sun seen along the west side hill.
Neither photo is anything to write home about.
A sighting of quite a rare bird for me this autumn was that of a Reed Bunting - obscured by branches.
It did not stay in sight long though.
A Raven conked overhead.
One Meadow Pipit and a couple of Wren and 8 Mallard and 2 Moorhen.
Ned Hill track had some humaniods along it and no birds.
I could have sworn I heard a Thrush singing at distance as I passed by the white cottage at the end of Percy Rd - an odd thing to hear in November?
Impossible to tell John - what a shame so distant - I guess Little Egret is also a possibility (???)
