The usual local outing this afternoon, down to Holdsworth through the fields and back.
A tad unpleasant at times with heavy bands of rain coming through blown along on a strong wind.
I didn't expect to see much today, given the weather, but a few birds came out to play.
Birds:-
Black Headed Gulls and Common Gulls in the fields with the odd Lesser Black-backed Gull passing overhead.
A few very distant Gulls on the factory roof nr. Holdsworth.
2 Raven near Oats Royd, one was being mobbed by what I thought was Jackdaws.
After looking at the photos the mobbing birds look like Raptors to me now - possibly Peregrine?
(Another Raven seen over Bradshaw Lane as I neared home).
Jay.
A sheltering Sparrowhawk left the copse near Holdsworth,
At least 8 Mistle Thrush (some seen, some heard calling).
A flock of c30Meadow Pipit, suddenly appeared after a rain burst.
They landed, distant in the sun, on a wall.
2 Swallow were nice to see, although they looked to be struggling, low, along the field tops in the strong wind.
These Swallow will probably be my last of the Autumn.
and ..a few others.
Nice to be out and about and about and at least my skin is waterproof.
