Elland to Brighouse. Local Fields p.m.

A dull mild outing with bits of drizzle along the canal late morning.

Birds:-

3 Mute Swan, 4 Moorhen, Dipper.

Grey Wagtail (My 1st of 2022).

Lots of Chiffchaff.

Pied Wagtail.

Buzzard, high, distant over Brookfoot woods.

8 Heron, M. Goosander.

Nuthatch.

A Blackcap was singing (unseen) from ivy clad trees west of the refreshments hut, by the canal bridge there.

7 Coot, Black Headed Gull.

(Not much on the Ski Lake).

Several short bursts of song from the lagoon, my best description is a trill (crescendo) . Hoping it might be a Water Rail but Collins bird app doesn't agree!!!

The bird was a Little Grebe - with a bit of help from my friends!!

A few others.

An enjoyable saunter with lots of bird life, Chiffchaff singing all along the canal was a pleasant reminder that good weather might arrive!!!

Local Fields:

Unpleasant in strong winds with drizzle.

Little Owl. Green Woodpecker.
