Ponden and Leeshaw Reservoirs

I fancied a change of scenery today so I opted for a short drive out to Oxenhope  to check out Ponden and Leeshaw reservoirs. Hoping for a Tern!

The water at both reservoirs is very low and I was accompanied by a few showers blown along and a brisk wind.

Birds:

Ponden:

A Weasel was seen briefly in among the lying grass of a mown field.

Heron, Oystercatcher, Pheasant, Swallow.

Many Sand Martin zooming about the trees was good to see.

A small, completley silent bird was looking for insects among the tress next to the path.

A Willow Warbler of Chiffchaff -  was very active behind foliage most of the time.

Dark Legs so probably a Chiffchaff.

Kestrel. Whitethroat and a Blackcap both sang for a short time.

Black Headed Gull and Lesser Black-backed Gulls over.

Three Jet Fighters blasted past with the accompanying BIG NOISE.

Leeshaw:

As I stopped the car, next to the wall, on the way up the east side of the reservoir, a Little Owl left a wall and landed in the field nearby calling.

I soon let it be, in case in had young nearby.

A Curlew called here also.

2 Oystercatcher, Linnet, Meadow Pipit.

Swift, Lapwing, Greylag Goose.

Lesser Black-backed Gull and Black Headed Gull.

The Gulls were very distant on the far west shore and also hidden by the reservoir banking, so there could well be more birds out of sight.

Apart from the Martins, Greylags and Lesser Black-backed gulls, there were very few of the other species  mentioned.

Apologies for the wind noise...
Now where did I put the Rennies?
