A busy day today with just an hours birding late afternoon at Ogden, with a quick circuit and then a walk home.
I was on the hunt for DJS's Goldeneye Duck reported by him here earlier today.
Great timing today as far as the weather was concerned with a completley dry walk around the circuit and home via Crabtree Hall Farm and Bradshaw Fields.
Not so good timing with the bird life though, with no repeat of yesterday's bonanza of Finches which were conspicuous by their absence - they are here - somewhere!
The Goldeneye were on the water at the far north end as I arrived on the promenade, and they remained at distance throughout my circuit of the water, ending up in the very middle of the drink as I left for home.
A lovely bird to see and unusual wing noise to hear if they fly past as well - these two were not for flying today.
Birds:-
Ogden:
2 Drake Goldeneye.
2 Great Spotted Woodpecker (Heard).
Only 4 or so Chaffinch seen today.
A few Goldcrest - never still.
A Sparrowhawk was on a telephone pole by the terraced houses as I left Ogden for home.
I didn't eyeball it until in flew, which was a disappointment.
Bradshaw Fields:
Little Owl.
Pair of Kestrel flying in a line towards Ogden.
1 Meadow Pipit.
