Redcar Tarn (Keighley) a.m. & Local Fields p.m.

We had to visit Howden Mobility at Keighley this morning and we took the opportunity to visit Redcar Tarn, above Keighley.

Beautiful sunshine as we left home with mist in the valleys, visible from Denholme.

The Tarn area was above the mist, thankfully, and very sunny, if cold.

I took some photos of the Gulls to look through , but I did not eyeball anything of note.

There were very many small Gulls in the fields and the usual crew on or near the water, augmented by a bread lobber's appearance with a whole large white loaf.

Late afternoon I took a stroll up the local fields.

A "Woodpigeon" that flew fast morphed into a Sparrowhawk through the bins and it was kind enough to land on a distant fence post.

A strange experience with bright sunshine, then a band of thick mist moved through.

The mist kept on moving and bright sunshine arrived again!

Within 10 minutes, however, another thick band of mist came along.

This one meant business and stayed the course.
This was my cue to slope off home.

Birds:-

Redcar Tarn:

Lesser Black-backed Gull, Herring Gull, Common Gull, Black Headed Gull.

Tufted Duck - one bird had lots of white above the bill, but a faint tuft was visible, taking a possible Scaup out of the equation.

Mallard, Canada Goose, Greylag Goose, Rook.

Pied Wagtail.

Local Fields:

A Sparrowhawk > S high over Crabtree Hall Farm.

Another Sparrowhawk, later, on the fence post (could be one and the same bird).

Little Owl.

A few distant small Gulls, was me lot.
