Elland to Avocet Works Brighouse

I  had an enjoyable walk along the canal this afternoon.

It was pretty cold in Bradshaw this morning with a very strong wind. This fooled me again into wearing more warmer clothes than I needed in Brighouse del sol.

A bit of a perspiring afternoon but a few birds were about.

Top of the shop was a count of 15 Goosanders along the way.

A family of 10 were seen together near the weir at the end of the walk.

I managed to stay dry throughout, wearing warm waterproof trousers seems to keep the rain clouds away!

No birds seem or heard from the reedbed viewing platform unfortunately.

Birds:-

15 Goosander.

A small number of Swallow, 3 Swift, 6 Mute Swan.

3 Grey Wagtail - always a nice bird to see.

A distant Buzzard.

1 Black Headed Gull.

2 Moorhen, 5 Heron.

6 Thrush species flushed from on the deck near the river in the woodland - going by their leaving call, might have been Song Thrush but they all vamoosed too quick to be sure!!

and a few other species.

Comma

10 Goosander
