After Filey Brigg .... Ogden

 Ogden:

A dull dark afternoon but it stayed dry as I had a couple of circuits of Ogden water, interspersed with an enjoyable café visit.

The ladies at the café said that they were hoping to open 7 days a week, but this depends on volunteers , I guess, and this weather won't have the tills ringing.

Birds were moving about for a change with the trees along the east side particularly lively with "small perchers"

Cormorants seemed to be all over the shop constantly diving and Goosanders made a welcome visit.

The Goosanders were very active on my 1st pass, but I found them resting on the bank 2nd time around.

I wonder if we will get a Diver species here this year.

A Great Northern one would be a nice treat - a long time since DJS had one on Mixi.

Birds:-

Raven, c10 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 16 Black Headed Gull included 1 Juv.

5 Goosander, at least 5 Cormorant.

1 Tufted Duck.

A Juv. Sparrowhawk could be heard from opposite the café giving the odd sighting through the trees.

Moving further along Ogden Lane I picked it out on a tree top.

2 Great Spotted Woodpeckers and a Nuthatch were heard.

The east side tree birds were moving through quickly and obscured by foliage but I got the odd photo.

Long Tailed Tit, Blue and Great Tit here and  Chiffchaff  / Willow Warbler - probably others!!

I usually look at the leg colour to distinguish Willow Warb. from Chiffchaff (when no calls are heard) but the light in the dark canopy was not great so who knows?

A pleasing visit.

Zoom, Zoom - Where's me tripod?
