Bye Bye 2023

Not much birding today as we decided to look at some holiday destinations to take our minds off this poor weather.

I did get a look at the Raggalds Flood as we returned from the Kelham farm shop, late morning.

A Sparrowhawk was seen from the garden with an 'odd' flight pattern - a few wingbeats then rising (higher than usual) . This was repeated a few times as it left high over Oats Royd - no photo alas - it was out of sight by the time I got outside with the camera.

All that remains is to thank the Calderdale WhatsApp Site(s) administration team for their great work during the year and to wish my solitary blog visitor 😁(you know who you are) a very safe and happy new year.

Oh.... and...

Another ELDDIR.

A six year old child hammered a nail into a tree to mark their height and returned ten years later to see how high the nail was.

If the tree grew by five centimetres each year how much higher would the nail be?

Answer:- Is below the photographs

Birds:

Sparrowhawk.

1 Common Gull.

3 Stock Dove.

Baildon from Kelham Farm Shop.

Riddle Answer: The nail would be in the same place as trees grow from the top.
