Bradshaw - Soil Hill Circular

I managed a few hours birding this afternoon with a walk up to Soil Hill (missing out Raggalds Flood today).

Flipping cold up here this afternoon but a good day for a walk nontheless.

I actually ventured down to the bottom of the north slope and back up again in search of Reed Bunt. but failed miserably.

A real clatter of wings and a good squawk, greeted me at the bottom of the hill with probably up to 8 birds flushed (this sounds like a line from Monty Python's parrot sketch this does).

Some , if not all , were Pheasant but there did look to be a Partridge or two in the mix , in the very short glimpse that I got of them, before they disappeared into "DJB land!!

Birds:

Bradshaw:

A Buzzard overhead landed in a tree opposite DJB's house before dropping onto a fence post.

Only 2 Common Gull.

Kestrel.

Soil Hill.

1 Redwing east fast.

2 Stock Dove.

Kestrel.

Common Gull over the enclosed reservoir.

No Skylarks on the summit but 8 or so were hunkered down in the field contours adjacent the mast field with 2 more (wearing Damart undies) up singing.

North Slope.

2 Canada Geese, 2 Mallard and 2 Moorhen on the NK pond.

2 Blackbird, 2 Wren, 1 Great Tit.

Shay Fields:

Too distant really for my tackle to see much on the Shay Fields,  but there were lots of Woodpigeon , 53 Lapwing and a Curlew.

The local fields face east mostly and on my visit today, with this cold easterly, they were deads-ville - just a Pheasant.

2 Buzzard over the house flew East towards Roper Lane later.

Brain Teaser.

What makes this number unique: 8,549,176,320?

Answer tomorrow maybe!
