A few days away, a long drive, to Maryport, Cumbria this week.
Monday 20th May 2024.
Mostly sunny with a cool breeze near the sea, warmer in town.
A longish walk around the 'various promenades' and harbour had lots of mud and coastline but few birds alas.
The best birds were in the nearby bushes.
Birds:-
Greenfinch, Pied Wagtail, Goldfinch, Willow Warbler.
Chiffchaff, Whitethroat. Linnet.
Sedge Warbler.
Swift, House Martin, Swallow.
Cormorants nesting.
Herring Gull, Black Headed Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull.
Great Black-backed Gull with fish??
A large Raptor overhead in the Lake District fells was seen(too late) from the motorhome. Photo was pooooooor!!
Tuesday 21st May 2024.
Anther sunny day and another very enjoyable walk, this time south along the coastal path towards Flimby.
Good to see some Waders today with 16 in a small group, scuttling along the sea shore.
Sand Martins were nesting in the banking.
The exposed stone / gravel below the coastal path has an odd look about it (to me anyway ) looks like a mixture of chalk and reinforced concrete.
Birds:-
Sand Martin, Swift, Swallow.
Dunlin, Sanderling, Whitethroat, Willow Warbler, Linnet.
Song Thrush, Sedge Warbler and a few others.
Hope I did not miss owt mega.
