Friday and Saturday

Friday:

Emma to entertain on Friday which involved a lot of clothes shopping.

Emma is now too infirm to try on the clothes in the actual shop, but she still enjoys choosing what she wants -  so it's a bit of guess work buying 2 sizes of each garment -  going home trying them on -  and taking (hopefully) one of the sizes back to the shop.

Luckily the rain that came and went, came when we were inside, and went when we were outside.

Afterwards lunch in Wetherspoons, Sowerby Bridge was pretty good.

I did get a few minutes to stroll around White Windows gardens where a Chiffchaffs and Blackcap were heard.

Friday evening I had a walk up the local fields where a Curlew was calling and a Little Owl was sat in the short-lived sunshine.

It was good to put the world to rights with "Carpet Mick" up there -  who's son (and 2 pals) have completed their Lands End to John O'Groats cycle ride and raised £6,000 or thereabouts for Marie Curie.

Saturday:

Saturday morning Sue dropped me at Ogden on her way out to the shops.

I managed just a circuit of the water and a short diversion through the east side woods before sheltering from a heavy shower -  then legging it to the open Café.

After a coffee, KitKat and a natter with the ladies in the café, rather than walk home via Soil Hill ,  I opted to catch the 502 bus from Ogden to Bradshaw Church (soft sod - what I am).

Saturday afternoon I had a look at the "Raggalds Drip" - no sign of the Lapwing adult(s) or chicks or anything else!

9 Degrees of heat showing on the car .

Birds:-

Ogden was very quiet today alas.

One Tufted Duck was on the water.

A Grey Wagtail was in the sluice area seen from the prom - zoomed off before I got much of a photo.

Plenty of contact calls and a Blue Tit was seen entering a nest box.

A Great Spotted Woodpecker was heard then briefly seen in the woods.

Blackcap, Willow Warbler and Chiffchaff were heard.

Not much else about really.

Still, it was good to get out in the fresh air.

Saturday Evening:

This evening I had my usual walk up the local fields - cold again but dry and quite bright.

Birds:

Curlew calling.

Pheasant, Little Owl.

Oystercatcher calling.

Juv. Starling on its own.

2 Meadow Pipit.

Stock Dove.

1 Swallow.
