Ringstone Reservoir

A visit to Sowerby Bridge and some shopping was on the agenda today.

Late afternoon we called for a quick look at Ringstone Reservoir, above Barkisland, "on our way home".

It was flipping cold here with a strong-ish breeze across the water, churning it up a bit.

I had a walk  about and a gawp about and the rain got me just before I got back to car.

Very dark and dismal here - lots of water but just 5 Mallard and some Gulls on there as far as I could tell.

The large fields to the north of the reservoir held many, many birds - Gulls, Lapwing, Starling and Golden Plover.

Difficult viewing in bad light and the Golden Plover were well camouflaged in the soil covered grass.

The fields to the west held a huge number of Canada Geese.

Quiz:

Four times Olympic Gold medal winner Laura Kenny formerly Laura Trott won her medals in which discipline?

Birds:

2 Pied Wagtail (hardy souls on the cobbles to west edge of the reservoir buffeted by the wind).

1 Kestrel.

113 Golden Plover (counted from a very poor video).

C500 Canada Geese.

Many Lapwing.

Quiz Answer:

Cycling.
