Local Fields and Fly Flatts

A bit of free time this morning and an enjoyable run out this afternoon.
Cloudy this morning and a good bit cooler than of late.
I had my usual walk along the fields through the Crabtree Hall Farm buildings as far as Ned Hill Road bottom and back again.

This afternoon I had a run out to take a rare (for me) look at Fly Flatts 'reservoir'.

The fire brigade were still present along with a massive hose running from the reservoir along the side of the road for several hundred  metres.

We parked up at the far (Oxenhope) end of the reservoir and I left Sue reading in a sunny car while I enjoyed a walk along the public Footpath along the top side of the water as far as the Yorkshire Water ' no go' sign.

Very windy here and a tad cooool in one area, brrrrr, soft sod what I am.

An interesting outing with some decent birds on offer.
The photographs, however, leave a lot to be desired alas.
Most of the Waders were distant on the North West side feeding in the brown peaty stuff.
Just above their heads the light shone brightly making for an odd silhouette with shimmer.

I should have brought my "Blue Peter- Bird Photography for Dummies" book with me.

Food for thought:-

Redshank and Dunlin

Two Lesser Black-backed Gulls and a Wader but which Wader?

Lapwing and a Wader but which Wader?

Head Shot:-

Clutching at strays with this photo.
A 'head shot' of  a Ruff below for comparison.
