Leeshaw and Leeming Reservoirs

I had a quick run out to Oxenhope this afternoon.
It was bright and sunny for the most part but cold with a temperature of 4° .

13:45 Leeshaw

There was a bit more happening here, than of late and a bit of welcome sunshine as well.
The birds on the far side of the reservoir are only just within bins/camera range (so the photo are disappointing).
The distance also makes I.D. a tad difficult and any smaller birds , especially under the banking, could well be missed.

(I had a chance meeting with a hiker who claimed he had seen a Snowy Owl when he was in Hexham last November and he asked me if the Snowy Owl came that far south - as if I'd know!)

Birds:-

c25 Greylag Geese, F. Goosander, c10 Small Gulls, 2 Cormorant, 2 Oystercatcher, 25 Lapwing, 3 Pheasant, c30 Canada Geese, Robin.

Leeming 14:45

Leeming was unusually quiet today and very boggy!

Birds:-

c40 Small Gulls, 6 Canada Geese, Kestrel, 8 Goldfinch and with just Blue Tit, Great Tit and Chaffinch about.

  1. Things are on the move John. I,d have asked the Hexham hiker what he was drinking at the time!
