Ilkley – a short stroll.

It was a beautiful sunny day today and we enjoyed an hour or so walk along the river Wharf at Ilkley. We went past the tennis courts and around the small nature reserve and back.

Birds were disappointing today, with the river very full and flowing fast, and there was no birds seen on it on our way out.

A few Mallard and a Moorhen were on the river banking by the golf course and a solitary F. Goosander made a late appearance as we were about to leave for home.
The fields were flooded just after the tennis courts and it looked as if the tennis courts and access road had suffered severe damaged from the recent floods.

A pr. Oystercatcher in amongst the gulls on the flooded fields gave me a long awaited tick.

3 Redwing were in the trees by the park.

A raptor flew high, far off, before heading over Ilkley moor .The bird I believe to be a Peregrine Falcon although the pictures leave a lot to be desired.

The fields by the Keighley by-pass remain flooded and there are 100’s of gulls feeding there.

I took a photo as we passed Raggalds Flood but it looked bereft of bird life.
