Friday 24th Jan 2014 8.35 –
9.45
Cold icy morning.
From
home (Bradshaw Lane) to Taylor Lane via bridleway.
8 Woodpigeon, Chaffinch, 5 Blackbird.
Taylor
Lane to Soil Hill.
Large red dog fox on soil hill top (may account for
lack of bird life?)
9 unidentified flying over SH towards Shipley
Lapwing size, sharp M symmetrical wings all flying side by side with one bird
making a plaintive cry.
Return
journey.
Taylor lane area 40 Fieldfare , 30 Starling,
Dunnock, Pied Wagtail 2.Bradshaw Lane 9 Common Gull.
Soil Henge
Where's Willey (Wagtail)
Mist over Halifax
Arguably, the birds described as M shaped with the plaintive call flying to Shipley spring to mind as Golden Plover.
ReplyDeleteI had in mind Golden Plover when I saw the birds but because I rarely see Golden Plover I could not say for sure. I am glad that you are thinking on the same lines. Lets hope we see some on SH before the week's out.
