14:30 – 17:00
Usual jaunt this aft.On Soil Hill top God had the
hair dryer turned up to max. (again).
A skylark was singing over Taylor Lane and on Soil
Hill 7 Skylark. Also up there 3 Woodpigeon, Pr Lapwing and a Meadow Pipit.
Leaving SH at Pottery Cottage a Blackbird and
Greenfinch pottering about.
In the bushes, to the right of the track opposite
Coal Lane, 3 Goldcrest were flitting about. These were joined by a Firecrest.
This little ‘blighter’ soon high tailed it into the large pines opposite. I
stood around like a burglar awaiting nightfall but Mr. Firecrest didn’t return.
This is my second Firecrest sighting, the first was some weeks ago, on the
Ogden circuit. I wonder if there have been any other Ogden Firecrest sightings
reported. Also in the bushes Pr Bullfinch.

Wood & Saltaire canal & River.
Before the soil hill jaunt , we had a drive over to Saltaire this morning:-
Chiffchaff singing at the entrance to Hirst Wood
also Nuthatch singing - neither seen.
Robin 6, Treecreeper 4, Woodpigeon 3, Dipper, Dunnock,
Mallard, Grey Wagtail 4, Wren 5, Kingfisher, Chiffchaff seen in the trees near the
Green(?) pipe bridge. LTT. Mistle Thrush. Pied Wagtail.
The visit to Saltaire was eclipsed by the
