Walking on ‘Hissing Pump’

Raggalds – ‘SH’ – Ogden – Bradshaw circular.

Picked the wrong time of day for a stroll today.
S.H. Top Grim: Gale with driving rain but at least the Raggalds Flood showing some improved water level.

Raggalds 11:00:

Pr. Goldfinch on the wall next to the road.
Couple of Wheatear nr. the water – didn’t hang around.

S.H. Top Contour footpath.

Driving rain – sheltered a while hoping for Ring Oozle but no luck. Everything was hunkered down out of the wind and rain.
Rewarded with a few Skylark & Meadow Pipit battling the gale. A solitary Lapwing was on patrol warding off crows. Mallard calling from somewhere in long grass and a Woodpigeon.

Ogden.

3 LBBG. 12 Canadas: Pr Mallard sheltering 2 chicks in the grass. Willow Warbler. Wren: Robin etc.
A bit damp by now so headed off home.

Moorlands Fields.

Pr. Mistle Thrush. Pied Wagtail a couple of Linnet not a lot else (except Goldfinch seemed very abundant on the way up Bradshaw  Lane).

Home:
The sun made an appearance.

I'm blaming the weather on the poor pics!

  1. Good to know you're as crazy as me, mind you at least RF turned up Wheatear for your watch.

  2. Thought at first I was going to draw a blank. Then 2 Wheatear were kind enough to fly from the wall top to the grass. If they'd d stayed still I'd missed them the rain was so heavy.
