9:45.
After escaping Igglepiggle,
Upsy Daisy, Makka Pakka,Ninky Nonk , the Pontipines and the Tombliboos I
had the usual stroll today; from Bradshaw to Queensbury via Scholes & the
Old railway cycle track.
Hot sultry day with little breeze.
Raggalds Flood is now like the Sahara with just a Pied Wagtail
& Swift to be seen.
Low Lane.
The usual birds knocking about here Greenfinch, Swallow, Linnet,
Goldfinch & Pied Wagtail. I did not
see any Lapwing in the fields.
Junction Pub Area.
Swift, Swallow, c100 Starling mostly Juv. by the looks of it
in the fields & on the walls.
Cycle Track.
Lots of birdsong today with a Whitethroat singing loudly
from a tree top far off.
Wren in good voice also Blackcap singing and Willow Warbler& Meadow Pipit with a possible Tree Pipit see photo.
Nr the Tunnel.
The bushes here very active with birdlife with young birds
asking to be fed.
A Male Bullfinch very kindly allowed me to snap it also present a Juv. Bullfinch? Also
here singing Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler, and at least 2 Blackcap, with many
birds moving about, it was difficult to pin point how many Blackcap there were.
Station House.
In the trees behind station house a warbler with a song I am
not familiar with. The bird was very flighty and difficult to see but after
listening to the song on the RSPB website at home I am fairly sure that it was
a Garden Warbler
a first for me. Strangely enough further up the lane another warbler
was skulking about, low, in the Willow Herb before quickly exiting into a tree.
I believe that this was also a Garden Warbler ( they are a bit like buses, wait
ages and then 2 come together). Also heard from the lane a Male Pheasant.
Not a bad day for me
Today's Post.
Tree Pipit?
Juv Bullfinch?
Good outing John, glad you got your Garden Warb.
