Hot sunny
morning with a cool breeze and plenty birds stirring to-day ,on a walk around
Ogden res. and also up to the North high point.
The noisy BHG
are back in numbers with a few groups dotted about; 7 in one group and 14 in
another with some juv. looking very pretty in the sunshine.
A juv. Grey
Wagtail was feeding on the waters edge and a GSW was heard but not seen.
There were
plenty birds singing:- 5 Chiffchaff, 4 Willow Warbler, 6 Wren with another 4
Wren keeping stumn. Wren seem to be thriving here this year.
Around the
circuit there seemed to be more activity than normal from smaller birds, most
prob. Goldcrest but hard to locate. I did spot a couple of Goldcrest away from
the water at the higher north end.
Also higher
up was a F. Bullfinch, Treecreeper and Nuthatch all spotted within a few
minutes although the photos were hard to get. Also here Coal Tit and a good
number of Great Tit flitting about.
A Green
Woodpecker was laughing at me as it kept out of sight.
On the
return journey a Blackcap was singing loudly near the Res. path as 20 noisy
walkers approached. I thought it would vamoose as the noise approached but it
sat in the tree and allowed me a few snaps!
No sign of
the Common Sandpiper or any other waders, even though the water is as low as I’ve
seen it in months.
All in all a
good morning out for me.
Good to get summer Goldcrests.
ReplyDeleteDon,t know where the Blackcaps get to when I,m at Ogden, would you believe I have,nt had one this year yet.
It's hard to believe You haven't had Blackcap Bri. they seem to be attracted to me and I couldn't believe that the noise didn't scare it off.
