Leeshaw

Leeshaw Res. 10:00.

I took a drive up to Leeeshaw Res. this morning for an hours saunter.

The water was deserted at first but eventually some of the gulls left the fields in favour of the water.

3 Pied Wagtail, Little Owl calling, Reed Bunting.

5M 4F Pheasant

Red Grouse calling from moor.

A dozen or so Meadow Pipit. Robin.

2 Goldfinch feeding on the thistle tops.

3 Swallow heading SE – the last I’ll see this year I suspect.

A good mix of Gulls on the fields with a good number of Jackdaw in amongst.

(6 Starling like birds in flight, that looked larger than a starling though, with very fast wing beats in a group – not spread out. No picture unfortunately.)

Later in the day we had some lunch at the Drop Farm Café in Oxenhope/Howarth and paid a short visit to Ponden calling at Fly Flats on the way home.

Ponden.

Nothing on the water.
A Muscovy Duck on the waters edge with a few Mallard.
13 LTT flitting about and an unid Goose far off in the field (Greylag?).

Fly Flats.

A short walk from the road to the north end of the reservoir revealed nothing on the water and nothing on the shoreline that I could discern.

There was a Kestrel hunting overhead and 3 Red Grouse flew from the North edge of the Res. over the road and out of sight.
