Raggalds and Haworth Area.

After a trip to Queensbury barbers to have my ears lowered I made a quick call to see B.S. to ask him to I.D a duck for me.
While we had a short chat about life in general several small groups of Redwing and Fieldfare were filtering through >S. with a smattering of Woodpigeon.

Later I took a short walk to check out the Raggalds ‘flood’.
Just a couple of puddles here at the moment ,being guarded by a solitary Magpie, but more water than of late so an encouraging sign for the future.A Pied Wagtail was on the post near Raggalds Pub.

After lunch I persuade Sue to take a trip out towards Haworth.
Parking on the moors above Sladen Reservoir we had a short stroll towards the Bronte Waterfalls.
A Wheatear perched far away on a dry stone wall was definitely the highlight of the outing.
Quite late in the year to catch a Wheatear I would have thought?

Red Grouse were calling throughout the walk with one kindly taking to the air.

We also saw a Pheasant, and a Kestrel perched in a small tree.

The moors were looking extremely beautiful in the early evening light.

A drop of moisture in the Raggalds Flood.

Baildon from Raggalds.

Aptly named road - especially trudging up it in the snow - ask NK.

Sladen Reservoir

Back to reality. Is it cheaper by bus or car?

  2. Nice pics John, like the Lower Laithe reservoir shot. Still time for Wheatear yet into the edge of November.
Good to chat to you this morning with winter thrushes overhead.
Hope you,re feeling better soon. You were right, by the way, with Wigeon.
