On the hunt
for Owl today so I took a walk on Black Edge Lane and surrounding Bridleways
and footpaths.
A dark day
for the most part, however, the sun came out for a few seconds had a peek at
the weather and went back in again.
Within a few
hundred yards on Black Edge Lane 2 Kestrel passed high, flying fast, towards the Soil Hill / Queensbury area.
A few
minutes later I though I’d got a Little Owl perched on a low broken down wall ,
but that too turned out to be a Kestrel.
Then
approaching the buildings below TMR, 2 further Kestrel – one taking a dislike
to a particular Corvid , although there were plenty of other Corvids about.
The usual
Mallard population on the pond at the top.
I turned back here and turned right along
the Water Board permissive path near the bottom of B.E.L.
On a very, very
boggy path that leads towards Ogden eventually, another Kestrel was hunting
behind Denholme Velvets.
Then by the
side of another broken down wall a glimpse of a medium sized brown bird. It hopped out of sight almost immediately
but I would have said it was a Little Owl (not sure about the hopping though).
I waited about for a while but it stayed out of sight.
2 Wren, 6
Woodpigeon, a few BHG and another 2 Kestrel on the path towards Ogden.
On the way back to the car a Pied
Wagtail at the stables on the Bridleway that runs parallel with Foreside Lane .
A strange
dark day with very little moving except Magpies and Kestrel of course.
I’ve most probably seen the same
Kestrel more than once , but given what little else was about , I’m not
complaining.
Kestrel takes a dislike to a Corvid - poor pics. I'm afraid
This silhouette reminded me of Alfred Hitchcock
Today's Post
Ten out of Ten for effort.
