Fly Flats

With an unwanted trip for Sue, to the dentist, having to wait ‘till Monday, and the Marmalade and Chutney making equipment appearing on the kitchen worktop, I thought it prudent to zoom off to Fly Flats.

I though Bradshaw weather was bad but Fly Flats was grim this  morning, with a cold strong S wind. I’ve  heard of Rose Water but up here is was making nose water.

I took a walk on the footpath to the edge of the Reservoir and around the top on a very boggy path to the verboten sign.

Just a far-off Mallard was kind enough to appear on the water.

A Red Grouse was calling and later I spotted a few more and managed a picture.
I spotted 5 Red Grouse in total.

With just a solitary Meadow Pipit and also a shifty Weasel, on the stone ditch banking, for company I decided to call it a day and went for a scenic drive home towards Oxenhope .
Going home via Mount Skip , Midgley and Highroad Well. (Got a bit lost really).

A quick 5 minute call at Soil Hill, on the way home, to put some birdseed down rewarded me with possibly 3 Grey Partridge – they were Partridge – and they were grey (like the weather) and reading NKs blog the other day they made me think Grey Partridge.

Also over 3 gulls calling – just BHG I think - see awesome video.

A little bit of sunshine on an otherwise grey day.

Plenty of surf but no Surfbird

Awesome Video
