Oats Royd

I really enjoyed a trip to Oats Royd this aft., after ‘enjoying’ an hour or two at Asda late morning.
Sue must be on the mend, 3 weeks gone - 3 weeks to go, with the clog job and we're going to Asda!

14:40.

Steady away at first with the usual stuff knocking about:-

2 BHG, 3 Wren, Moorhen, Dunnock, Greenfinch, Male Bullfinch.

2 Great Tit, 3 Pied Wagtail,The Three Sopranos.

Leaving Oats Royd , rising on the walled footpath towards Bradshaw , for about 150 metres (I must admit I was feeling a tad under whelmed) when a Wagtail was calling from the fields to my left. It was getting dark now, approaching 16:00 with the sun disappearing behind an ominous dark cloud. It took a while to find the Pied Wagtail perched on the wall and just as I had the camera on it , it went all shy and beggared off.
Trying to relocate it, I happened on a dark shape , a long way off, perched just beneath the wall top.
A Wheatear was my first impression.
The camera refused to recognise it and would only focus on the wall.
Then Percy Verance came along to help out, and eventually we got some, albeit not brilliant,  snaps.
I’m fairly sure it’s a  Black Redstart.

It’s one small step for some but a giant leap for me.
After a lacklustre 90 mins. It’s nice to go home with a smiley face!

On the way home just 2 Collard Dove and a hedge full of House Sparrows.

Some days this birding malarkey’s not all that bad.

On a day like today I'm definitely allowed a crap joke.

Maths Teacher Miss Smith to Billy:

"Billy if you have £5.00 in your right pocket and £11.57 in your left pocket.
What have you got?"

Billy: "Somebody else's trousers on Miss.

Todays's Post:
Watch out for falling lopsided letter N 's
(with a nasty,sharp. stickyout edge).

Plenty of nuts and berries

A bit of colour left in Bradshaw Park.

The stream in full flow
