Ogden

11:30

A trip to Ogden today in dull & gloomy weather but thankfully, not as much rain turned up as forecast, so it was quite an enjoyable gambol.

Birds:

3 Dunnock, Common & BHG, GCG, Mallard.

Long Tailed Tits in good supply – seen at a few different locations.

A group of about 20 small birds in the reservoir bushes including LTT, Chaffinch, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Robin, Goldfinch.Blackbird

A good day for Nuthatch too, with 3 on or near the feeders and another 2 seen later as I approached the car park.

A calling GSW had me follow it for a good 20 minutes, into very overgrown woodland, without it revealing itself.

However immediately after abandoning the GSW hunt I was rewarded with a very illusive Treecreeper the bird of the day.

Jay, Green Woodpecker heard but not seen. Coal Tit.

The water was exceptionally quiet, but with some wet and windy stuff on the way, some water fowl might drop in later in the week.

A gloomy Ogden Water

One bites the dust as another takes root.

The hunt for GSW part 1.

The hunt for GSW Part 2.

The hunt for GSW part 3.

Long Tailed Tit - honest.

With my utter failure to spot the GSW and this little blighter
flitting from tree to tree I thought I'd include this awesome
 'spot the Treecreeper' shot.

Spooky fun guy

The recent rain is not making much impression.
Watch this space - next week it will be full.

Some young lady will be upset, having left her footwear on the car park wall.

  1. Looks like the Nuthatches bred this time John.
GSW are a bit of a rarity at Ogden now, they used to be in every tree.
