Bradshaw – Soil Hill – Ogden – Peat Pitts Farms – Bradshaw.


Wildfowl on the move.

Yesterday I did a lot of driving around so a good foot slog was the order of the day today.
A 10:00 start for a good trek up & around Soil Hill down to & around Ogden & home via Peat Pitts Farms and Bradshaw Church.
On the Bradshaw Lane to Ingham Lane bridleway, lots of small birds nr. the feeders at Railes House.
Robin , Dunnock, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Chaffinch, Wren, Greenfinch, 6 Blackbird & a Green Woodpecker calling.

Soil Hill.

Near resident Common Gull, a few Crow, Blackbird, Pied Wagtail, Heron took flight towards Thornton area, Kestrel.

Ogden Area.

5 Blackbird, GSW, Meadow Pipit, M. Bullfinch in the car park bushes.

Ogden Circuit.

7 Teal in the very middle of the pond making ID & a decent shot hard work.
Another M. Bullfinch, 13 Canada Goose, 6 LTT with the usual Tit congregation.
BHG & Common Gull, Robin - stayed for lunch.

The home run.

Leaving Ogden via Boggart Brig a good number of small birds in the trees across the main road:-
Chaffinch, Coal Tit, 4 Robin, Great Tit.
Passing Bradshaw Church a Heron was flying from Soil Hill towards Ogden. 2 Mistle Thrush were airborne going towards Oats Royd.
‘John the Plumbers’ hedge full of noisy House Sparrow.

Nearing home 2 Mistle Thrush feeding in the fields and 4 Wood Pigeon heading towards Soil Hill.

This gull was in the fields nr. the plantation and looked bigger than 'normal' 
in the bins - but I think it's a Common Gull

  2. Great to pick out the red eye on the top photo of the diver John. The barring across its back suggests its a juvenile.
