Gales, Gales, Gales

A trip out for a lunchtime snack to Stephen Smiths’ Garden Centre at Harden today.
Afterwards we had a drive through Oxenhope to the car park above Leeshaw Res. hoping for Golden Plover.
The gale soon stopped me in my tracks, literally. I had a 5 min. search with the bins but I could not walk properly in the gale force winds, so I abandoned the job.

Leeshaw Res. 14:00 (ish)

Same problem at Leeshaw Res. with the car boot lid nearly disappearing into what looked like the North Sea with breakers on the shore – no birds at all on the water.
A solitary Meadow Pipit making slow progress flying against the wind.

Leeming.

Leeming – not just as windy but for bird life see Leeshaw !! nothing.

Raggalds Flood.

I persuaded Sue to stop at RF on the way home. The gale here was rocking the car but I managed a few wobbly photos.
I didn’t do a count of the birds here, but there were more birds here, than on 2 large reservoirs!!

Not a day for toupee wearers.

This wind's too strong - I'm walking!

  1. Livening up at the flood John . A few Goldies settling back in the Upper Marsh field above Leeshaw.

  2. Certainly 'live' up there today.
Didn't spot Goldies but not surprised with the gales.
