Sleet on the way there then cloudy with a bit of sunshine.
With Sue’s foot on the mend we had a try out of the
walking boots this morning/afternoon with a circular walk at Bolton Abbey from the Pavilion
Café to Bardon Bridge and back.
The place was very very busy – the last Saturday
before a lot of kids go back to school.
The riverside path was ‘themed’ with the 12 Days of
Christmas. Near the strid the theme was “12 Drummers Drumming” and the riverside
path was adorned with a full blown drum kit and accoutrements allowing the school
kids and parents to let off steam!
The bird life seemed a tad depressed –
can’t think why.
I think there is a word for my symptoms –
Meldrewism.
However the days are getting slightly longer – light
‘till 4:15pm today.
Birds:-
Mallard, Dunnock, Wren, Blue Tit, Great Tit, M&F Mandarin Duck,
Coal Tit, Chaffinch, Robin, Pheasant, 2M 1 F Goosander, 2 Common Buzzard, Jackdaw, Dipper,
Blackbird, Nuthatch, Black Headed Gull, Collard Dove, Rook, Magpie, Kestrel,
Starling, Moorhen, Common Gull, Woodpigeon, Sparrowhawk, Canada Goose, House
Sparrow, Carrion Crow.
I was hoping for Brambling but the bird life near the
path was very quiet.
The drums would have been better in the river, not by it.
