Bradshaw – Soil Hill – Ogden – Bradshaw

The usual walk this afternoon. I was very fortunate with the weather again with the snow showers giving up as soon as I left the house.

13:15 Bradshaw Bridle Way to Ingham Lane

4 Carrion Crow, 4 Chaffinch, 2 Great Tit, Kestrel

13:30 Soil Hill

Carrion Crow, 1 Skylark, 15 Canada Goose feeding in the fields below the north path with a few Mallard.A pr.of Mallard on the NK pond by the looks of it.
Pheasant and Woodpigeon.
I had a good look out for Snow Bunting but nothing doing.
From behind Pottery Cottage, below Soil Hill, a Heron took flight.

Plantation Area.

Just a couple of Pheasant and a few small gulls in the fields

Ogden 14:30

The recycling of the Christmas trees is in full swing with a small tractor unit and trailer moving about on the water side path.
Presumably this is the cause of the lack of bird life here today.

A Goldfinch singing high in a tree at the end of the Prom.
Robin, GSW calling, Kestrel.
Something startled a Little Grebe nearby. I got a 3 second glance of it before it dived under the water and disappeared … again!
Nothing of note seen on the return journey via Ingham Lane.

Pool night with neighbour John, if today’s birding is anything to go by  I’m in for a drubbing!

A quiet Ogden

I can always rely on a Robin at Ogden.

The new Christmas Tree barrier and muddy track

A Mistle Thrush (in the bins) later ion the afternoon

  1. Good to get a Skylark which are scarce up there this year. Usually about a dozen over- winter on the top.

  2. Tried to get a pic. as it flew off - with little success.
But a nice surprise to get it.
