Ogden – The disappearing birds.

A windy old morning, especially crossing the promenade, elsewhere on the circuit, the weather was not too bad at all.

The water was very choppy with most of the gulls out in the middle.

The large Mallard population were bobbing up and down looking out for Hovis.

But I think Hovis was still sharpening his clogs on Haworth main street cobbles.

As I circumnavigated the North Sea a Cormorant came in to land. I took a couple of distance pictures and decided I’d get a better picture when I got round to where it had landed. However when I neared it’s landing spot – no Cormorant.

However looking at the pictures now - I not even sure that it's a Cormorant! The bird appears more duck like and I think there is too much orange for a Cormorant - or is this wind going to my head?

The usual Tit flock were feeding under the beech trees with Blue, Coal & Great Tit flitting about. A few Robin and Carrion Crow were seen on my first circuit but not a lot else.

My second circuit saw a GSW overhead and a Chaffinch with 2 Siskin (I believe) feeding high overhead with some others in the trees nearby.

The pictures are poor because of the light, but I’ve included them in case anyone would like to comment.

A Little Grebe was spotted as I looked across from the west side corner to the south shoreline. It was almost hidden under some low branches. Here again, I took a few distant photos expecting something better when I got nearer to the Grebe. As I approached it, Abracadabra – Kazoom , it disappeared under the water never to be seen again - even though I loitered for a good while!

All in all a better morning than expected and certainly better than scraping wallpaper off walls!
