Bolton Abbey

10:30

With our hiking season fast approaching, I am getting as much birding done as I possibly can.
We had a trip to Bolton Abbey today to make the most of the dry mild(ish) weather  - hoping for LSW - I like disappointment.

We did the usual circular walk from the Cavendish Pavilion to Bardon Bridge and round. No LSW but one GSW heard drumming very briefly and 2 further GSW seen in different locations so things are on the move.

Birds:-

Silsden Area:

2 Buzzard were soaring high overhead, above the road from Silsden to Addingham, and 2 Curlew were in the fields here.

Bolton Abbey:

5 Curlew, Goldfinch, Pied Wagtail, 4 Dipper, 3 Song Thrush, 6 Long Tailed Tit.
Blackbird, Great Tit, Blue Tit, 4 Coal Tit, Chaffinch.
3 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 8 Nuthatch, Mistle Thrush, Wren.

15 Mandarin duck – 8 drakes. 3 Mandarin Duck roosting high in a tree near the feeding area / shelter - on the north east path.

Woodpigeon, Treecreeper, Jackdaw, Carrion Crow, Rook, 2 Oystercatcher, BGH, Kestrel, 2 F. Goosander.

A group of about 60 Fieldfare & Redwing – 90% Fieldfare  feeding with a group of 150+ Starling.

Brown Rat.

Raggalds Flood.
Stopped for a nosey at RF on the way past – just a few small gulls as far as I could see but the water holding on!
