Soil Hill Ring Ouzel

Two blogs in one day – what’s going on.

After our trip to Ilkley today I thought I’d take it easy, but with the sun shining I donned the walking boots after tea and headed to Soil Hill.

Another birder was on the hill when I arrived and , sorry Dave  (DB), I did not recognise him. The last time I saw you Dave you were up here dressed as Nanook of the North – didn't recognise you in full bloom!

Dave had had some luck with the Ring Ouzel but was looking for some better pics.
I took a look at the pond at the bottom of the hill and after a good long "ponder", and having walked 6 miles already today -  (Dave had gone by now) -  I decided against the long trek down  to the pond area and back.

I thought if it was my day then I should be patient and stay on the contour footpath with my eyes open.
Sure enough the gods were with me and the Ring Ouzel popped up onto a fence post as I neared the west end of the footpath.

This is only my third Ring Ouzel this lifetime.

Thanks to DW, DP, & DJS, DB and of course BS for all the info.

Also > W from Taylor Lane 2 Oystercatcher I think

Other birds:-

Grey Partridge, Meadow Pipit, Skylark, First Local Linnet followed by a couple more. 2 Pheasant and a Little Owl spotted from Taylor Lane.
