I donned the boots for a quickish trip up to Soil
Hill this evening, beautiful and warm! up here.
I put down some Nyger seed, but it looks like my
efforts are not enticing any Twite.
The usual birds about, the pick of the bunch 16
Linnet on the telegraph wires above S.H. track.( I thought I'd got a Redpoll also at first).
Huggins of Meadow Pipit zooming about feeding young.
The usual singing Skylark, a lovely sight to see up
here, when the sun is shining.
There were 2 Swift, Curlew calling, Pheasant and a
very elusive Whitethroat in the bushes on the west hillside.
A few Goldfinch sat on a field wall and coming back
down Taylor Lane 25 Starlings were preening themselves on the wires.
A very pretty M. Chaffinch was singing merrily and
another pretty couple greeted me on my arrival home!!
A very enjoyable couple of hours.
The Linnet flock is building nicely up there now, the flock got up to 150 + in Sept 2011.
ReplyDeleteDon,t worry about the Twite, I,ve been putting Nyger down all spring at Leeshaw, Fly Flatts and Soil Hill with no results, hopefully we,ll get some post breeding birds.
I hope I recognise the Twite when I see it!!
