Monday 10:15 - 15:00
I had a fair old saunter on a damp, cool
showery day with just a smidgen of the golden ball.
On the way up to Soil Hill 3 Linnet and a
Meadow Pipit were seen and not a lot else.
Soil Hill.
A solitary Lapwing > W, Blackbird,
Meadow Pipit, Skylark.
A chance meeting with NK on the hill was a
welcome surprise.
He was fairing better than I was. We
decided to go down to Ogden & Mixenden and on the way managed to solve most
of the worlds’ problems all by ourselves.
Ogden.
No sign of the Drake Pochard
alas.
Ogden held a few BHG and a couple of LBBG
with 14 or so Canada Geese.
A nice surprise came in the form of a Common
Sandpiper that landed on
the small stones on the NW shore and then promptly disappeared, never to be
seen again.
A Grey Wagtail made a short appearance.
Golf Course Area.
On the Golf Course a couple of Oystercatcher
were calling and feeding and c13 Linnet flew over.
A Reed Bunting was calling but never made
it to the photography studio.
There was a healthy number of Swift about
and a Kestrel, with some missing tail feathers, concentrated the mind for a min
or two.
Below Hunter Hill at least 4 House Martin
were feeding under the large trees there and a family of Mistle Thrush were
hereabouts.
Mixenden.
Mixenden was deserted save for a few BHG a
few Mallard and 4 Pied Wagtail.
NK and I parted company here - with all
the worlds’ problems fixed, there was no further discussion required.
I went home via Per Lane, Cow Hill Gate
Lane & Ingham Lane without my bins being troubled once.
Plenty of shoreline at Ogden
Picturesque Ogden Golf Course
Nice find on the Common Sand, hard luck with the Pochard .
