Ogden 10:15 - 13:00
I did a circuit or two of Ogden water
again this morning guessing that I'd be jigsaw(ing) with Abigail this aft.
The water is fair gushing through the
intake channels now.
The same birds as usual about, with c65
gulls on the pond including 4 LBBG.
200 yds or so, after crossing the
promenade, at the first bend, birds were in abundance.
c30 Chaffinch, Song Thrush, (I haven't seen Song Thrush here for a while), 10 Goldcrest, 8 Long Tailed Tit, Blue and Great Tit.
I gave the Chaffinch a good looking at, in
the hope that a Brambling might be in amongst but I did not see one.
A M. Tufted Duck was in the bread lobber’s
area (presumably the usual visitor) with the Mallard.
There are some marvellous autumn brown and
red colours at the moment.
I had a stop at Bogart Brig for a dry out
and bacon butty before returning to do a second circuit.
The weather was brightening up now and it
felt very pleasant strolling about.
I finished the stroll with a trip up
through the woods on a thin path (the path that shadows the east side track that
runs north from car park) - hoping for Green Woodpecker.
Just a Nuthatch, Jay, Coal Tit and Kestrel
seen hereabouts with another bird of prey over quite high - another Kestrel I
think.
I notice that the Bogart Brig cafe closes
at 4pm on 13th Nov. until 2nd March so I'll soon be making my own butties.
On the way home I stopped for 2 mins at the
end of Ned Hill Track, but the Little Owl did not show just a nosey white pony
and a sun bathing rabbit!
A real cracker of a find on Soil Hill this
aft – see NK post.
After all the fog and rain it looks like
being a sunny and warm afternoon.
I don't think it will last beyond Saturday
though.
Sue and Abigail are here with a HUGE
pumpkin so I'd better ditch this drivel for the moment.
Hope we all have an enjoyable weekend.
An evening sky with a promise of some sunshine tomorrow
The track to the moor from the car park used to be a hotspot for summer Redstart along the left hand wall but that was many moons ago.
ReplyDeleteThat must have been the good old days before the Ogden car park and accompanying crowds
