10:15.
I took a stroll via the Raggalds Flood and
Perseverance Road, around Soil Hill, did a couple of laps before coming home home via Taylor Lane.
Leaving home 2 Mistle Thrush were having a disagreement in the
tree opposite the house.
The thick mist was lifting nicely as I
arrived at RF.
There were just 20 Lapwing here, with no
ducks about.
Soil Hill
I dropped some Nyger Seed 100 yds further
along the path from my usual site.
Soil Hill was quiet with nothing moving
skyward.
7 or so Meadow Pipit seen,20 Canada Geese
feeding in the fields, 1M 2F Pheasant, small gulls dotted about in the fields
with 1 LBBG and Goldfinch overhead.
The lower pond held a 6 Widgeon (found by N.K. yesterday) and a Moorhen.
It was a nice surprise to bump into Bruce
who was on the lookout for Fieldfare or Redwing.
We had a chat and looked skyward for a
while but the only bird overhead was a Heron with a high pitched call.
When we parted company Bruce retraced his
steps down the main track and I continued around the hill to Ned Hill Track.
Leaving Soil Hill a Kestrel was on the
wall by the ruin. It left when it eyeballed me.
I had a good scan about from Ned Hill
Track looking for Little Owl without success, but in the process I picked out a
Stonechat in the bushes below the track.
Coming down Taylor Lane 14 Fieldfare flew
over >SW.
These were my first local Fieldfare this autumn.
It was very pleasant on Soil Hill today -
very unusual!!
Another new turbine
Heron over - with unusually high pitched call
Robin in the same bushes as the Stonechat -
tying to confuse me which is easily done.
Fieldfare disappearing into the distance
Well spotted on the Stonechat John, no sign when I went tonight.
ReplyDeleteMost of your Wigeon are Teal, possibly the 2 f Wigeon which I got tonight.
Cheers Bri.
ReplyDeleteSorry about confusing the Teal/Widgeon ID.
