Oats Royd

Oats Royd

9:45 – 10:45

I had a stroll down and around Oats Royd on a very mild and breezy morning.
Looking across the valley towards Ambler Thorn I see that there is a new wind turbine on the hillside.

Mistle Thrush numbers seem to be on the increase. I heard several Mistle Thrush calls during the walk and spotted 3 or 4.

The light was very poor today and as usual the birds seem to be keeping their distance.
It might be something to do with that new Yves Saint Laurent deodorant “Eau  de Cow Shed”  that I’m wearing these days.
I think it says “shed” on the bottle – the label is quite worn though.
However I though most birds didn’t have a sense of smell.

A Pied Wagtail was with a couple of Mistle Thrushes near the Calderdale way path intersection on the way down.

The ponds held the usual 3 domesticated goose, a very relaxed fisherman, a Moorhen and 4 Mallard came in to land as I walked past.

2 Large Gulls went over > SW possibly Herring Gull but BHG more like.

The Heron left the top pond in a hurry as usual.

There were 3 Meadow Pipit knocking about on the return journey and lots of Blackbird in the Bradshaw Park area.

Are you asleep yet?
