With the rain taking a breather for a few hours this
morning (before returning this aft) I enjoyed a stroll around Ogden water. Ogden was very popular with dog walkers today.
The water was its usual quiet self, I think the
South in the wind direction needs to vamoose before we start to see any
goodies.
C30 small Gulls mostly Common Gull were on the
water.
A deviation, at the 2nd bend on the west
side, from the circuit path brought some reward in the shape of a flighty Treecreeper.
The bird made quite a high pitched prolonged alarm call – a new one on me.
Also here a good few Great Tit and 2 or 3 Goldcrest.
At the next bridge another slight deviation from the
path brought with it c6 Long Tailed Tit and c6 Goldcrest.
One or two of the
Goldcrest were feeding in the long grass at the very bottom of the trees.
A Nuthatch was heard but not seen and also about 2
Wren and 2 Robin.
A trudge up the banking, to the path that runs along the top of the east side, hoping for any kind of Woodpecker proved fruitless.
A very “expectant” looking Squirrel sat near the
feeders – then the drizzly rain appeared.
Water going over the overflow now
The best! pic. of about 5 of this little blighter
Nice shots there John - shame the Treecreeper was on the move !!
