Windows 10 Test for blogger / chrome

I have been trying to install windows 10, over the last few months.

Each time the install goes fine for a few hours then abruptly stops displaying a long error message and then reverts back to windows 7.

Inquiries on Microsoft "help pages" do not give details of the Windows generated error message or why the install failed.
Inquiries on the web are not much better.

But, low and behold, today the installation started at 10:00 am (ish) and completed at 15:00 (ish) with Windows 10 being installed!!!

I have not had time to check out everything yet but on the second time I tried to log on I received a blank screen after a cryptic message and then nothing happened at all -  even the Ctrl, Alt Del combination did not work.

The on/off button seemed to have fixed that issue and my next log in worked ok.

I wondered why my email would not work - but the automatic modem log on had not been set up at that point, and after re-entering my Modem password the internet and email work!

I use Microsoft Word and Excel - so far I have found that I have no fonts when I try to use Word.

(Update: not sure if anyone's gives a monkeys - but I've got the Word fonts back. The problem was related to the printer. I don't have a printer attached to the laptop , only use it when I need it. Once I attached the printer and printed a word doc the fonts returned to the Word menu bar)

At least it looks like I can load pictures into my blog:-

Abigail's Christmas Quiz "Spot the difference"

(Abigail can't read yet so I can print the answers at the bottom of the page for my info - I forget where the differences in the pics are"

  2. It does the same as windows 7 for my needs.
But if you don't upgrade I suppose you'll have to pay for a version of it eventually.
    Bring back pen and ink?
Not really, it's a shame we can't pick just the bits of it that we need.
