The usual jaunt took me up over Soil Hill where I
had a chance encounter with NK. We both trudged down to Ogden and had a good
nosy about before parting company.
Taylor Lane fields had just 11 Common Gull.
I dropped some birdseed on Soil Hill track but Soil
Hill was its usual enigmatic self with just a couple of Skylark and a Wren seen
there.
Just a couple of Stock Dove were seen on the way to Ogden
Ogden held the usual small Gulls and Mallards, 20 Woodpigeon plus a
fly over of 6 Goldfinch.
Other than that it was mega quiet.
After parting company with NK I went over the Ogden
prom and turned left behind the reservoir house and dropped down left to the
stone bridge over the stream.
I has a 5 min rest and a drink of corporation pop and
as I went up the banking a Dipper was heard calling.
A return to the stream was
rewarded with a Dipper
sitting on the stones in the water. It stayed all of 2 mins before flying
downstream towards the Golf Club.
The Dipper brightened a really dull outing.
It’s quiet a long time since I’ve managed to get a
picture of a Dipper at Ogden.
For a change I took a right turn along Rock Road
past the Golf Club.
Just beyond the Golf Club there are some varied
bushes and these were full of bird song – a commodity lacking so far today.
The usual small birds were here, Blue & Great
Tit, Chaffinch, Blackbird, Dunnock, Robin, Goldfinch, Song Thrush and a real bonus of 3 Reed Buntings.
Nothing much else was seen on the walk home just 4 birds high > E which I believe are Woodpigeon.
Have a good weekend, when it gets to you. Hope the
weather is kind.
Was a bit grim today mate, not much about at all but nice one with the Dipper they're always nice to see
