It has been a grim day today , definitely not a day for a walk, with heavy persistent
rain giving way to some more heavy persistent rain then some heavy persistent
drizzle.
After a morning's cleaning, reading and doing the
crossword we had to get out from between the 4 walls, so we had a drive out to
Cold Spring Café near Cullingworth (always worth a look if you want outdoor clothing) followed by a drive over to Haworth.
As we passed through Haworth, we noticed that the
Bronte Weaving Shed is now closed.
On the way home via Oxenhope, Sue spotted the Golden
Plover in the usual fields near Marsh.
I estimated 120 birds at the time, but looking at the photo I think there are 235 birds.
However I could do with a "clicker" because they are difficult to count!!
There were about 20 Lapwing seen in a field lower
down.
The weather, and the distance to the birds, did not
help the photos either.
However it was pleasing to see the Goldies back in
good numbers.
Nearing home, opposite Sandal Farm Restaurant (this looks
to have closed also??) there was a large flock of Starling, as many as 300 birds
were in the fields.
It was disappointing to see the Raggalds Flood bereft
of birds again today.
I
haven’t given up hope of seeing Waxwing yet either!!
Better weather tomorrow - together with the free beer.
A side splitter:
Knock, Knock ,
Who's there,
Byron,
Byron Who?
Byron get one free!!
My estimate 235 birds above
Bang on time with the Upper Marsh Goldies. Had 43 on 10/3/15 and 233 by 12/4/15. Thanks for the text.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if my maths is bang on, could have over egged the number by a few!!
ReplyDeleteNice to see 'em up there though.
