11:30 - 13:15
I had a short walk this morning down to
Oats Royd and back while the 3 girls did some baking.
Not a lot about - no Swallows as yet.
Another puzzler though.
A bird with a song very, very similar to
that of a Wren - but not a Wren had me waiting a good while for an appointment with it!
The bird failed to turn up (reminds me of
my youth).
It's a bit early for awkward warblers.
Also a large Pipit sat on the wall with an
open bill - but not singing.
I've had a good look at my Collins Bird
Book but I can’t turn it into anything special??
I guess it's a Meadow Pipit cooling down!
Birds:-
4 Meadow
Pipit, 3 singing Chiffchaff, Heron, 2 Canada Goose, 2 Mallard, 3 Moorhen, Coal
Tit, Chaffinch, 3 Long Tailed Tit, Greenfinch, Kestrel, Wren.
Three photos of a large 'Meadow Pipit" follow.
Surprising how birds can look different when seen in a different stance to normal.
ReplyDeleteHave you got any shots of that pipit showing breast and flanks John ?
ReplyDeleteSorry Dave I just got the pics shown on the blog before it flew off.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the enquiry.
John
No matter - think now it is a mipit. !!
ReplyDeleteThanks again for showing an interest in the bird.
ReplyDeleteIt Amazed me how big it looked, compared to the others.
Tough "hobby" birding.
