Ogden – Bradshaw

10:10 – 13:00

Sue dropped me at Ogden on her way to see her dad this morning.
It was cool and breezy here today.

Ogden water was quiet with just 4 Canada Geese and a few Mallard.
One Mallard had 9 ducklings in tow.

Far away in the middle of the water a Great Crested Grebe was sleeping and a Heron was hunting on the east side shoreline – look out Ducklings!

I was hoping for Spotted Flycatcher so I had a walk up to near Giants Tooth. The strength of the wind here made me opt for an off-the-road hike around the less frequented woodland areas instead of continuing to Giants Tooth.

During the walk 2 Roe Deer were seen – one with antlers and one without.
A Red Grouse and a Pheasant called from the moor land.

There was little in the way of Birdsong in the woods and no Woodpecker calls, mainly Robin, Wren, Blackbird and Chaffinch.

Birdsong increased as I approached the Withens path by the golf course with Willow Warbler and Chiffchaff singing.

I spent a good 2 hours in the woods but I did not see a lot.

The rain became a bit of a nuisance later on in the walk.

Just Meadow Pipit was seen by the golf course and a Wagtail called from the stream on the homeward journey via Union Lane.
