Leeshaw 13:00
The weather was a tad unkind with frequent showers and a stiff breeze.
A few Pheasant were on the track on my arrival.
There were c30 Large Gulls on the water.
2 Greylag Geese were seen briefly landing in the fields.
I had a long scout around scanning the field walls but with no joy.
A walk up the track towards the farm and a left turn along the field path paid dividends though with the sighting of a Little Owl on a field wall.
Later c30 Lapwing came over to land in the fields where there were c50 Large Gulls and quite a few Starling.
There is no shoreline here at the moment.
14:00 - 15:00 Leeming
It was dry and bright here with a glimpse of sunshine now and again.
A Heron was sitting on the exact spot as on my last visit.
A solitary Canada Goose was on the water with the usual Mallards, 2 Black Headed Gull and 4 Lesser Black-backed Gull.
A Moorhen sat well camouflaged among plants on the water.
A Kestrel emerged from a group of Jackdaw flying over.
There was frequent shooting coming from a farm beyond the south end of the reservoir. I think it would be clay-pigeon shooting, there was very little pause between the shots.
A Meadow Pipit was on the fence as I left the reservoir on the top (south) path.
There were many Swallow buzzing about.
Their number was hard to estimate but there were more than 50.
A bit of a downer followed.
Leaving the trees to drop down to the footbridge , 2 Red Legged Partridge flew past to land in the rough field there.
I decided to go over to the wall and have a look to see if I could get a picture of them.
On the way over 2 more Red Legged Partridge were lying dead in the field.
As I was leaving the reservoir and scanning the Swallow I picked out a Great Spotted Woodpecker on a distant fence post.
Always a joy to see a Woodpecker.
Spot the Kestrel!!
