Leeshaw & Lower Laithe Reservoirs

10:50 - 12:30

I had a morning outing to a couple of reservoirs at Oxenhope.

Leeshaw:

Quiet at Leeshaw on my arrival this morning.
c20 Gulls mainly Lesser Black-backed as far as I could tell.
2 Cormorant, Heron.
c40 Meadow Pipit left the fields to perch on the wires with possibly another 40 round and about the field walls etc.
It was a pleasant surprise to pick out a distant Wheatear on a field wall.
Also on a wall, at a distance , a Little Owl - always nice to see.

A couple of Kestrel hereabouts and a few Canada Geese came in to settle on the water.
11 Greylag Geese made a circuit but did not settle.
A few Swallow here and c40 Lapwing overhead also.
4 Mistle Thrush - again airborne.

Lower Laithe.

Lower Laither was a tad busier than normal (for me anyhow).

c100 small gulls,  Great Crested Grebe, 9 Canada Geese.
A "youngish" looking Cormorant was on the water being mobbed by several Black Headed Gulls. Funnily enough, when the Cormorant flew to the waters edge, to join the gulls they did not seem to mind?

c20 Swallow were feeding above the water at the far end.
22 Lapwing were close by on the shore and a couple of Grey Wagtail made a fly by.
